Evridika Vocal Trio
Evridika (Eurydice) Vocal Trio – Maria Alexandrova, Radostina Stefanova and Monika Bozhichkova – was formed in September 2010 by Georgi Petkov. Maestro Petkov created the trio in the Music Department of New Bulgarian University in order to help preserve and develop Bulgarian folkloric singing tradition and a cappella performances by young professionally educated and trained folkloric singers. In their debut album Evridika Vocal Trio presents classic a cappella arrangements of traditional songs for a trio by famous Bulgarian composers, such as Peter Krumov and Stefan Kanev. Many songs were especially written, or arranged for the trio by Georgi Petkov as well. Samples from different folkloric regions of Bulgaria are presented in the album: Dobrudzha, Thrace, Shopluk, Pirin and Rhodope. The ensemble has performed over 90 concerts in Bulgaria and abroad and participates in events organized by Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the Ministry of Culture, as well as in programs of Bulgarian National Radio and Bulgarian National TV. The repertoire of the trio includes a cappella performances of traditional songs from almost all major folkloric regions of Bulgaria.
