Polyphonic Mysteries Revealed: Evridika Trio & Georgi Petkov – Angelite Choir, Grammy-winning Estruna project – Open In-Depth Rehearsal/Concert
One of Bulgaria’s stellar choir conductors and arrangers, Georgi Petkov, and Evridika Vocal Trio, a bright new star in Bulgarian folk singing – both of Angelite Choir and Grammy-winning Estruna project – will delight us in an open in-depth rehearsal of the Macedonian song Tzufnalo Tzveke Shareno, as well as a studio mini-concert.
Ringing like a clear morning bell, the song Tzufnalo Tzveke Shareno, arranged by Petkov himself, wins the listener over with an infectious melody and an arrangement that makes it fully shine. The full choir and vocal trio versions bring out the beauty of the song each in their own way.
The singers of Evridika Trio will teach their individual parts in the master class, while maestro Petkov will talk about the intricacies of his arrangement, and the specifics and differences it carries when performed with a large ensemble and a small group.
In the concert-demonstration portion of the class, Evridika Vocal Trio, formed by Petkov in 2010, will showcase the songs Tri Zvuntza, Devoijko Muri, Hubava, and Trugnala E Malka Moma, among other gems of Bulgarian a cappella arrangements. Maestro Petkov and the singers will showcase and discuss their rehearsal process and creative history leading to the Grammy-winning Estruna project, and will answer questions.
